Junior Achievement Kansas City

Junior Achievement Kansas City

JA BizTown is quite a sight, and quite a site in Kansas City. It’s an in-person simulated town that gives students the responsibility of jobs in a city. One of those jobs: working at a bank.

How we support:

  • Financial gifts
  • Volunteering at Biztown to work with elementary school students to operate banks, write checks and even vote for mayor of Biztown.

Friends in Service of Heroes

FISH provides ways to honor those who have served our country.

How we support:

  • Supporting Wreaths Across America during the holidays and on Armed Forces Day
  • 25% of our home loans are proudly VA loans
  • Raising money all week long to honor Veterans Day
  • Providing funds for Veteran access to mobility scooters, service dogs and other services
Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City provides connections and opportunities to kids. They help kids develop skills, values and self-esteem to reach their dreams. They’ve been doing it for 110 years.

How we support:

  • Each summer, our Home Loans team organizes a golf tournament for employees and vendor partners to support the Boys & Girls Club.
Veterans Community Project

The VCP builds tiny homes for homeless veterans. They’re focused on providing a home with dignity and wrap-around support services that not only get them back on their feet, and ensure they continue standing.

How we support:

  • Building tiny houses
  • Organizing donation drives
  • Hosting fundraisers and other creative ways to support the VCP
Mother’s Refuge

Mother’s Refuge provide a safe home for pregnant and parenting young moms and babies that do not have a stable or permanent place to live. Women 12-21 years of age are provided with 24-hour direct supervision and guidance. Moms and babies can remain in the maternity home for up to 2 years after their baby is born.

How we support:

  • Raising money to support young mothers and their babies
  • Women leaders at nbkc regularly host sessios on financial topics:
    • Risk management - fraud, debit card disputes, online job scams
    • Retail - basic banking, apps, digital wellness
    • HR - resume, interview tips
    • Finance - budgeting, emergency planning and saving
    • Lending - consumer lending, buying a car, preparing to buy a house, renting vs. owning
    • Executives & Management - women in leadership
Ronald McDonald House

The The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City keeps families close to their sick children while the children get the care and support they need. On any given night, RMHC-KC services 91 families.

How we support:

  • Making meals and providing meal & snack kits for families staying at the House
